Theme for Conference: ‘Supporting Children Through Loss Following Parental Separation, Divorce or Bereavement’

Format for Conference:

The format for the day is expected to be one/two Main speakers and then four break off sessions which would be a series of interactive workshops which delegates can choose at the point of registration.

  • Conference Launch & MC: Children’s Grief Centre Ambassador, Olive Foley (wife of the late Munster Rugby player Anthony Foley) to open the Conference along with our long serving board of management chair, Philip Mortell
  • Opening Talk
  • Keynote Speakers, Dr. Liz Nixon, Trinity College, Dublin and Daniel McConnell, Political Editor, Irish Examiner
  • Break off sessions: 4 discipline-specific workshops
  • Panel Discussion & Audience Discussion
  • Closing speech

We are delighted to announce that Children’s Grief Centre will be celebrating our 10th Birthday in 2019 since our foundation by organising a conference on the theme of Supporting Children Through Loss Following Parental Separation, Divorce or Bereavement. Our keynote speakers will be Dr Liz Nixon, Trinity College and Daniel McConnell, Political Editor, Irish Examiner. Other contributors include Jennifer Moran Stritch, Director of Loss & Grief Research Group, LIT & Dr. Elke Hayes and Rebecca Lloyd, Schools co-ordinator with Children’s Grief Centre and our own Helen Culhane, Director and Theresa Kavanagh, Support Worker. Dr. Niamh Hourigan, Sociologist & incoming Vice President of Academic Affaris at Mary Immaculate College, Limerick will be facilitating on the day.

The conference will be of interested to parents, general public and professionals including teachers, social workers & nurses along with other medical professionals.
