Children’s Grief Centre has been chosen as one of the 9 Social Innovation Fund Ireland Animate / Healthy Communities Awards.

Generously supported by Medtronic & the Dept. of Rural & Community Development & Dormant Accounts Fund, the Healthy Communities Awards recognize community action that promotes health & wellbeing around Ireland supporting great projects that demonstrate social impact.

This €220,000 fund has chosen 9 outstanding projects plus one overall dedicated award, providing each project with financial support and the equivalent in dedicated, non-financial support.

Social Innovation Fund started with 58 applications for the first Animate Awards 2 years ago – this year it was 145. To have been selected as one of the 9 awardees is a fantastic achievement for Children’s Grief Centre.

About Children’s Grief Centre

We’re very proud to be acknowledged for our support service which offers one-to-one support for children, young people, parents, guardians and their families. Established by Sr. Helen Culhane in 2009, the Children’s Grief Centre offers a listening support service for children and young people to talk about death or feelings around parental separation. We also offer support to teachers and other professionals working with children and young people who are grieving or are bereaved, through community education talks and workshops. The centre is resourced mainly by volunteers who are qualified therapists.
