All here at the Centre would like to thank all the children who took part  in our Art Competition.  All of the children’s entries were fantastic & all will receive a cert thruough the post.  Congratultions to all our 9 winners who submitted some very impressive art, paintings & poems.  The judges were blown away by the standard of entries.

The School’s Art Competition invited submissions from children aged 4 to 11+ to include Junior Infants Class to Sixth Class.  Primary School teachers collected the art work, completed during school hours or at home, were submitted by the deadline of Friday 30th November last.  The theme ‘SOMEONE SPECIAL’  invited children todraw, paint, write a story or poem about someone special in their lives.  The Competition was run in tandem with the NATIONAL CHILDREN’S BEREAVEMENT WEEK back in November 19th – 25TH and helped raise awareness of our support service and also raised valuable funds so that we can continue to meet the growing demand for services for grieving children in the Mid-West.

Art is such a powerful means for children to express their feelings, thoughts and emotions. In our work at the Children’s Grief Centre it is particularly important that children who are experiencing a loss have opportunity to express themselves through the different mediums of art.

We had an amazing response from schools in the mid west region thanks to all the parents and teachers who helped the children submit their entries. Thanks to all for your support.  We had a wonderful turnout at the Prize Presentation Ceremony at the Limerick Library last Saturday the 8th December.  We would like to thank our sponsor Adrian, Essilor, Shannon; Marie, Limerick Library; Artist, Anne Fitzgerald; Olive Foley, Ambassador, Children’s Grief Centre & especially to our own Katrina, Fundraising & Events Co-ordinator for organising the competition and prize presentations.
